Hire terms and privacy

Chauffeured hires include the chauffeur and fuel, with a one hour minimum. Weekend one hour bookings are subject to availability, and vintage and classic cars have a three hour minimum. Self drive cars are hired per 24 hours with a daily kilometre allowance, a security bond and a $30,000 insurance excess, subject to approval. Every price includes GST, and a 25% surcharge applies on Victorian public holidays and to night transfers, with pickups between 11pm and 5am. On self drive, it applies to hires starting on a Victorian public holiday and to pickups or returns between 11pm and 5am.

We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and manage your hire, and we never sell your details.

Prices

• All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.
• A 25% surcharge applies on Victorian public holidays and to night transfers, with pickups between 11pm and 5am. On self drive, the 25% surcharge applies to hires starting on a Victorian public holiday and to pickups or returns between 11pm and 5am.
• Chauffeured prices are shown as a from price per hour, based on a 6 hour hire. Vintage and classic cars are based on a 7 hour hire. Shorter hires are priced from the full rate card on each car.
• Self drive cars are priced per 24 hour period. There is no half day option.
• Standard rates cover Melbourne Metro. Travel charges may apply outside metro and are confirmed before you book.
• Rate cards run to 6 hours chauffeured, 7 hours for the classics and 7 days self drive. Longer hires and multi car bookings are quoted on request.

Chauffeured hires

• The chauffeur and fuel are included.
• One hour minimum. Weekend one hour bookings are subject to availability.
• Vintage and classic cars have a three hour minimum. Additional time is $75 per 15 minutes per car.
• An after reception hotel service is available for vintage cars at a one hour rate, listed on each car.

Self drive hires

• Every self drive hire is subject to approval. A full licence is needed, and interstate and overseas licences are accepted. Minimum age is set per car, from 20 to 30.
• A daily kilometre allowance of 100, 150 or 200 km applies, then a per kilometre charge as listed on each car.
• A security bond of $2,000 to $6,000 applies depending on the car. It is refunded after the car is returned, subject to no damage, cleaning, refuelling or extra kilometres.
• A $30,000 insurance excess applies to all self drive vehicles.
• Cars are collected from and returned to one of our Melbourne collection points, confirmed at booking. Delivery to an address can be asked for on the Reserve form; we confirm whether it is possible, and the cost, with the quote.

Bookings

• An enquiry is not a booking. We confirm availability and send you an exact price before anything is locked in.
• A 50% deposit secures your booking, and the balance is paid in the week of the booking. Pay by card, cash or bank transfer, with no surcharge.
• Cancellation fees are per car. They are $250 with more than 7 days notice and $500 within 1 to 7 days of the booking. A cancellation on the day or a no show forfeits the full 50% deposit.
• Vehicles are supplied as described. Where a specific car is unavailable on the day we will tell you as early as possible and offer an alternative.

Privacy policy

This policy covers Ten Stars Cars Pty Ltd (ABN 38 636 582 646). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It explains what we collect, why, and how you can reach us about it.

What we collect

Your name and your contact details (mobile number and email address). Your booking details: the date, pickup time, pickup suburb or venue, and the car and hire type you are interested in. We also keep the occasion and anything you write in your message. Self drive hires are subject to approval, and we may ask for licence and identity details for that purpose.

Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry, confirm availability, send you a price, manage your hire and contact you about your booking. We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to.

Website analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits, the pages viewed and how many enquiries the site brings in. It uses cookies and records details such as your device, browser, approximate location and the pages you visit. It does not tell us who you are, and your enquiry details are never sent to it. You can turn it off with Google's opt out tool for browsers (opens in a new tab) or by blocking cookies in your browser. Google Analytics loads only after you first scroll or tap, or five seconds after the page opens. It never receives what you type into the form.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or trade personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to deliver the hire. They are the chauffeur assigned to your booking and the hosting and form providers that carry this website and our email. Enquiries sent through this website are delivered by Netlify Forms, the form service of our hosting provider. It keeps a copy of each submission so we can retrieve it. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How we hold it

Enquiries are stored in our email and booking records. They are kept only as long as we need them to manage hires and meet our legal obligations. Reasonable steps are taken to protect them from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing contact@tenstarscars.com.au. We respond within a reasonable time. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, tell us the same way and we will look into it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
